Carol Russ, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Pacific Beach, CA. She graduated with honors from Kansas State University and completed her masters and doctoral degrees at the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. Growing up in the sixties contributed to a professional focus on public-sector practice, including work for the State of California as a staff psychologist at Metropolitan State Hospital, the Counties of San Diego and Orange, where she served as Chief Psychologist of San Diego County's Juvenile Forensic Services, and twenty one years as a staff psychologist in the U.S. Naval Reserve. She has taught and published in the area of drug abuse. As a Board Certified Forensic Examiner she has had significant experience in the area of forensic psychological evaluations in cases of civil litigation, child abuse, child custody and delinquency. Her current areas of interest include: death and dying, attachment disorders, chronic illness, meditation and creativity. Although in practice for twenty- eight years, Carol is a recent graduate of the San Diego Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis, where she was certified as a bioenergetic therapist. She completed the first two years of bioenergetic study with the Southern California Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis in Orange County, thus having the opportunity to work with a number of different trainers. Carol's practice is informed by her in-depth understanding that in order to heal, grow and change, the relationship between therapist and client must be safe, authentic and respectful.
