Elizabeth Michel has worked as a physician and is now a writer. She completed four years of bioenergetic training in 1992 and published Bent Out of Shape: Anatomy and Alignment for Bioenergetic Trainees, in 1997. Based on an anatomy curriculum Elizabeth developed for the San Diego Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis, Bent Out of Shape is the culmination of 5 years of work. The book is written in engaging, non-technical language that is comprehensible to trainees who have never studied anatomy but want to understand the muscu-loskeletal basis of bioenergetic body reading. It also discusses the genetic and cultural determinants which interact with bioenergetic factors to shape our bodies. Bioenergetic, core energetic and other body work trainees are successfully using Bent Out of Shape in training programs on four continents. It is also available in Portuguese translation for bioenergetic therapists and trainees in Brazil.
